Inventory and glossary of wall papers (Dutch or French edition)

In 2005 the KIK-IRPA and the Monuments and Sites Directorate of the Brussels-Capital Region signed a convention to create a database of wall papers. To facilitate consultation, the KIK-IRPA proposed to simultaneously assemble a glossary of wall paper. At the end of 2014 the inventory, which will be further completed, and the glossary appeared online. We hope that this tool will become a reference for heritage professionals, researchers and amateurs.

Frames and Supports in 15th- and 16th-Century Southern Netherlandish Painting

This free e-book, written by scholar Hélène Verougstraete, serves as an important resource for conservators and scholars who study and care for old master paintings on wooden panels. The publication is an updated study based on Verougstraete’s 1989 doctoral thesis, which was originally prepared in French with black and white pictures. The new e-book has been fully translated into English and features over 2,000 crisp, full-color illustrations and diagrams presented in a searchable, zoomable interface.

Inventory of Baroque altarpieces in the Southern Netherlands (Dutch or French introduction)

This database was created in the framework of the doctoral dissertation of Valérie Herremans, which was completed in 2007 under the supervision of Arnout Balis (VUB). The PhD focusses on the three-dimensional components of the altarpiece in the Southern Netherlands between around 1585 and 1685.

The list of the works in this inventory has been published in Machinae Spirituales. Les retables baroques dans les Pays-Bas méridionaux et en Europe. Contributions à une histoire formelle du sentiment religieux au xviie siècle, the tenth volume in the Scientia Artis series of the KIK-IRPA.

bakelants_400Online edition of the inventory of Ivo Bakelants

A unique tool is now available for those in search of information on Belgian stained-glass windows from the 19th and 20th centuries. Over the years and in a very methodical manner, artist and master glass maker Ivo Bakelants collected a wealth of information on the stained windows in our country. He had already published the first three parts of his research, an inventory of the letters A, B and C. Due to circumstances he couldn't resume publication, but luckily he and his wife Antonia Cools agreed to confy this extraordinary inventory to the KIK-IRPA for digitization and online publication.
