FAKE, False and Real in Museums, Culture and Society
Le War Heritage Institute et Belspo organisent une conférence intitulée "FAKE, False and Real in Museums, Culture and Society", qui aura lieu les 23 et 24 novembre 2023. L'IRPA est également largement impliqué et plusieurs experts contribuent à l'événement.
Ce congrès vise à montrer et à documenter, par le biais de conférences, de cas et de visites guidées in extenso, l'étendue des FAKES dans le patrimoine et la société, à partir d'exemples dans les domaines du patrimoine culturel, historique et artistique conservé dans les musées et les institutions culturelles.
Le congrès se déroulera principalement en anglais.
Le congrès traitera de sujets d'expertise tels que l'archéologie, la conservation, les archives, l'ethnographie, l'anthropologie, l'histoire, les peintures et les arts visuels, la paléontologie, le militaire, le textile et le costume, la mode, le design, les médias et le journalisme, la recherche et les données sur le changement climatique, l'imagerie scientifique, la criminologie du patrimoine et le droit.
Le jeudi 23 novembre, la session de l'après-midi aura lieu à l'IRPA, où de nombreux collègues interviendront, et sera suivie d'une visite guidée de nos ateliers, laboratoires et autres départements.

- 14:45h Mrs. Isabelle Lecocq, expert in stained glass, Forgeries, copies, pastiches and multiples: the representative situation of roundels and other small painted pieces of glass
- 15:05h Mr. Bart Fransen, head of the Centre for the Study of the Flemish Primitives, A puzzle piece from Juan de Flandes’s Retable for the University Chapel in Salamanca
- 15:25h Mrs. Christina Currie, head of scientific imagery, and Mr. Steven Saverwyns, head of the painting analysis laboratory, When is a Brueghel not a Brueghel? A forensic approach.

- 16:15h Guided Studio visits (5 groups with 2 visits a group):
Painting Conservation Studio, Scientific Imagery (Radiography and Infrared Reflectography), Macro-XRF Scanning, Radiocarbon Dating/Dendrochronology (together) and/or Centre for the Study of the Flemish Primitives (display Van der Veken painting, plus documents and books on Fakes in our Library and our Centre)

The twenty-third Art History Seminar of the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA) is organised in collaboration with the research project AGENART at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). It will take place on 12th-13th September 2024 at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage and at the Instituto Cervantes, both in Brussels, highlighting various fascinating aspects of the artistic patronage of the remarkable woman who was the Archduchess Isabella, who lived in Madrid and Brussels between 1566 and 1633.
